but over the past 25 years this secluded town has gained a reputation worldwide
for it`s natural beauty and, as a perfect place for holiday makers. Here families,
couples or singles, young or old each find their favourite spots and things to
do. Only one and a half hours drive north of Perth, you will find tranquillity
and outdoor activities. Beautiful
beaches Reefs that protect the islands and crystal clear waters, all
contribute to giving Lancelin the optimum conditions as a perfect place for your
holiday. The beautiful white sand dunes also give Lancelin an exotic touch. Often
dolphins visit the beaches, and a family of seals can also be observed in the
bay. In the mating season humpback whales are seen outside the bay in open seas.
People from all over the world come here to enjoy the many activities such as
surfing, kiting, windsurfing, paddling, sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming,
sun bathing, fishing, jet skiing, sand boarding and naturally walking along the
long white sandy beaches. Lancelin
Ocean Classic Much of Lancelin's popularity among international tourists
originates from the annual windsurfing event, Lancelin
Ocean Classic. From the beginning of this event in 1986 until
now, many of the world`s top windsurfers have made it for this spectacular event
launched every second weekend of January. During the summer season many of them
return to Lancelin with friends and family to enjoy what Lancelin has to offer.
From November until March both Australian and international tourists come to Lancelin.
The peak season is December and January as this is when Australia has both school
holidays and their Christmas break. In January the windsurfing event, Lancelin
Ocean Classic attracts even more people, making Lancelin a busy spot for a short
time. When the crayfishing season is over in June, Lancelin returns back to normal,
when city dwellers come up from Perth to enjoy a quiet weekend on the beach.
